For those on the RSS feeds, RJOWorld.com now has a new look, come check it out! I’m home from the cottage this weekend so I’m throughly looking forward to getting some stuff done on the site!
So I’m reading an upcoming book, House to House which is a fascinating story about the life of soldiers in the 1st Infantry during urban combat in Iraq through the eyes of a squad leader. The story thus far has been great and has been pretty riveting.
So today I decided to research a Sargent Major Steven Faulkenburg who just passed away where I am at in the book; he seemed like an amazing career military man so I figured it was worth studying a bit about him.
It got me thinking about how great men like this, men who dedicate their lives to fighting for our countries (he had been in the military for 25 years I believe) can be forgotten so easy in the muddle of our every day lives, the politics of war and the fact that the conflicts of today are thankfully so far removed (thanks to people like Sgt. Maj. Faulkenburg and the men of the United States Military and Canadian Armed Forces).
So I’m just taking a moment to look over a causality list and spending some time putting my thoughts with those who are far away fighting the fights that keep us free. I encourage everyone to take the time at some point to reflect, if nothing else on Remembrance Day or when you see something related to the armed forces on the TV.
It bares repeating; Lest we forget …
Well a search that has spanned across 5 states and all over the province of Ontario has finally come to an end… I’ve got a Wii!
The best part? I went to Toys’R'Us in Belleville and was informed “I haven’t sold any of these in over two weeks”… That’s right, they had had the consoles for weeks and I had basically checked everywhere but there… good show Ryan… good show. Now when I say I looked in five states, I’m not kidding. I checked Walmarts, Targets and EB Games all over the north eastern United States.
Let me just say, the Wii was definitely worth the wait! I grabbed Wii Play (mostly for the spare remote) and have been playing that along with Wii Sports and have been having a blast! It is very innovative and just fun to pick up and play. The virtual console feature is also really cool. I grabbed Punch Out!!! (from the NES) and have played quite a bit of that. The NES really did have some killer games and its great I can play so many of them on the virtual console!
The final irony in this story is that my XBOX 360 has died. If you are keeping score this is my second dead 360. So now I get to call MS and try and convince them to give me a new one and not have this one “repaired”.
Ahh well… at least I have my Wii to fill the gap!
You observant folk have probably noticed I haven’t updated my Twitter in a while now… I have now switched fully to Jaiku for a few reasons. The number one reason being that most of my friends have now moved away from Twitter due to its technical issues (downtime, etc). I never really had an issue with Twitter but Jaiku does offer some cool features such as commenting on items.
Now we just need Dr Evan Sims Esq. to make a bridge between the two applications!
Off to get my hair cut now…
